Default RAW-(June 18, 2007)

At the end of Raw last week, Mr. McMahon was presumed killed in a horrific limo explosion — a moment that will forever taint what was otherwise an historic WWE Draft. As Raw heads into the Coliseum in Richmond, Va. this Monday night, its Superstars must cope with the fact that WWE’s Chairman is for all intents gone, his body seemingly lost in the flames that engulfed his limousine.

As for the WWE Draft itself, last week Raw said goodbye to The Great Khali, Torrie Wilson, Chris Masters and Ric Flair; however Raw also welcomed its newest Superstars to the roster: King Booker, Queen Sharmell, Snitsky, Mr. Kennedy and Bobby Lashley. Needless to say, all will have a profound impact on Raw in the coming weeks. However, Lashley — who was stripped of his ECW World Title after being randomly selected in the Draft — is planning to make his mark a little quicker than the rest. He had already established a strong Raw presence during his rivalry with Mr. McMahon over the past few months; does he have an advantage over the other “newcomers” as they enter the Richmond Coliseum this Monday?

A Raw world without Mr. McMahon

When the 734th edition of Raw kicks off tonight (9/8 CT on USA Network), it will also mark a series of firsts — the most important being that, for the first time in the show’s 14-year history, Mr. McMahon will not be any part of it whatsoever.

In perhaps the most tragic of ironies, the former WWE Chairman is presumed deceased after his limousine exploded at the conclusion of last week’s Raw, a show he first gave life to back in January 1993. The deceased had suffered more than his share of embarrassing moments on the WWE flagship over the years, yet even those who fleetingly knew Mr. McMahon could appreciate why he took so much pride in having Monday night’s top-rated cable program. And regardless of what Raw’s Superstars or announcers, or our fans around the world have ever thought about Mr. McMahon, they certainly realize what he has accomplished, and must give the sports-entertainment devil his due.

Recap of 1st Hour

Quote:
- No mention whatsoever of the passing of "Sensational" Sherri - shameful

- RAW begins with a video highlight of last week's events, including footage of the offical WWE statement and interviews from eye witnesses

(1) Brian Kendrick & Paul London vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team
Good action, Shelton and London compete most of the match, Kendrick hits the Sliced Bread #2 on Haas for the win

Winner: Kendrick and London

(2) Daivari vs. Jeff Hardy
Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch are ringside
fast paced match, Jeff dominates early, Daivari tries to fire back, Hardy hits the Twist of Fate and a Swanton for the victory. After the match, Lance Cade gets on the mic and says a few weeks a go the Hardys showed them a huge amount of disrespect, Murdoch then starts complaining, Hardy leaps over the top rope and onto Cade and Murdoch and then leaves to a pop from the crowd

Winner: Jeff Hardy

A lot of stuff on McMahon as expected. It's a shame they did not honor Sensational Sherri, sorry but I think that is quite low down....

More coverage:

Quote:
(3) Mick Foley vs. Umaga
Foley works over Umaga early with punches, Umaga takes down Foley with a clothesline, action spills to the outside Foley hits Umaga with a steel chair, Umaga kicks the chair into Mick's face, Umaga props Foley against the steel steps and peforms his running power move, Foley is out, Umaga is sent backstage, the match never officially started.

Winner: No Contest

- backstage Daniel Beck is seen talking to John Cena, while they are talking, a white limo comes into shot but no one exits

- advertisements are showing that RAW next week will be another 3 hour edition

- Mr. Kennedy makes his way to the ring to a good pop, he cuts a promo on how much he hates the Raw audience, looks like he's still heel! he says the Raw audience don't respect talent and they didn't respect Mr. McMahon, he says Vince was a friend of his and that he was like a father to him, he now dedicates his career to the legacy of Vincent Kennedy McMahon

- they finally show a "In Loving Memory" graphic for "Sensational" Sherri

(4) Melina & Jillian Hall vs. Mickie James & Candice Michelle
before the match, Jillian tries to sing, thankfully Mickie James cuts her off. Melina & Jillian work over Candice, she finally makes the tag to hometown girl Mickie, she hits a hurricanrana on Jillian and a neckbreaker on Melina, all 4 women get in the ring, Melina hits a nice looking modified leg drop on Mickie James for the win

Big blockbuster main event for tonight (at least that is what they are saying!)... WWE Champion John Cena & Bobby Lashley will take on Randy Orton & King Booker

That was a funny skit with Jilian singing Amazing Grace in honor of Vince....lol.
At least Sensational Sherri was honored, but I thought they would do it at the start of the show.

Good to see next week's RAW will be 3 hours!

Yeah it is a decenet show, nothing really special is sticking out though. The death angle is kind of odd to say the least.

That would be awesome if the killer was Bret Hart, what a return that would be, but I doubt it. You never know though, but Bret seemed done with the WWE. Erich Bischoff seems like a likely, canidate, like you said and it wouldn't suprise me. Maybe it could also be Stone Cold (too predictable though). Possibly Mick Foley. Anyway this is a decent storyline and keeps you guessing.

Quote:
- J.R. & King take us back to the closing moments of Raw, never before seen footage is shown - they cut back to the white limo parked in the parking lot, still no one exits

(5) Randy Orton & King Booker w/ Queen Sharmell vs. Bobby Lashley & John Cena
Booker and Lashley start off in the ring, Lashley gets the upper hand, Orton and Cena get involved, Lashley and Cena clear the ring, back from commercials, Orton is dominating Cena, Booker and Orton tag in and out and continue to work down Cena, John finally makes the tag to Lashley, Orton tags Booker, both men are fresh, Cena is knocked to the outside, Lashley spears Booker but Orton gets the blind tag, Lashley turns around into an RKO and Orton gets the victory.

Winner: Orton and King Booker

Decent match, but as expected John Cena gets pwned during the match, classic lol. They just showed Stephanie McMahon stepping out of the limo, good guess brandon

End of show:

Quote:
- in the parking lot the limo driver finally opens the door, out steps Stephanie McMahon, she makes her way inside the building

- Stephanie makes her way to the ring, she thanks the fans for their support, she then informs us that next weeks Raw will be 3 hours long and will feature superstars from all 3 brands in a celebration of Mr. McMahon's life, she warns everyone that vengeance will belong to the McMahon family when they find out who did this, Steph then manages to say "I love you, Dad" before leaving the ring crying...
Article

Lame promo by Stephanie, saying how much see misses her dad. The "What" chants were starting, but the crowd seemed very sympothetic suprisingly towards the McMahons. Also she promoted the 3 hour show next week, which will be in honor of Vince (yes, again)....

Anyone else catch Steph say "my dad is", instead of "my dad was." That doesn't fit the storyline!

Thoughts on the show?

Overall it was fairly good, but as I mentioned not the best show. The main event was solid, the London/Kendrick tag match was also good. Maybe WWE focused a little too much on the McMahon investigation, but it is their biggest storyline since Trump/McMahon.

I was personally expecting more out of the Stephanie interview, I thought there would be some major announcement, but I believe next week will be a quite busy and entertaining show with some issues resolved.
