Default US v Mexico Feb 7th

Major League Soccer: News: 01/24/2007

Quote:
Twenty-six MLS players will spend the next two weeks training at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., in advance of the U.S. national team's Feb. 7 match against rival Mexico. Interim U.S. coach Bob Bradley unveiled the roster Wednesday.

Bradley will also have up to eight European-based players available for the Mexico match at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. With the game falling on a FIFA international fixture date, Bradley has submitted releases for eight players, and a week before the match, he will have a final list of European-based players who will travel to Phoenix.
The teams are facing off in the new Arizona Cardinals stadium in Glendale, which is called the University of Phoenix Stadium.

I'll watch this one.

Roster is announced

Goalkeepers (2) - Joe Cannon (Los Angeles Galaxy), Tim Howard (Everton FC)
Defenders (7) - Chris Albright (Los Angeles Galaxy), Carlos Bocanegra (Fulham FC), Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA), Bobby Boswell (D.C. United), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City Wizards), Bryan Namoff (D.C. United), Eddie Robinson (Houston Dynamo)
Midfielders (7) - Brian Carroll (D.C. United), Ricardo Clark (Houston Dynamo), Bobby Convey (Reading FC), Clint Dempsey (Fulham FC), Joshua Gros (D.C. United), Justin Mapp (Chicago Fire), Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado Rapids)

Head Coach: Bob Bradley

Considering the timing, getting four EPLers isn't too bad.

The USA Beats Mexico in what was in effect a Mexican home game. The young kids played well together and Landon looked like he could play, about time.

IMHO, what impressed me the most about the game (apart from Landon's play) was the play of Tim Howard in goal. It looks as if the time spent at Goodison is paying off for him; he's developing into a top-flight keeper. That bodes well for the future.

I know. I was quite surprised at how little class they've shown in recent years. The bad blood between the nations has spilled over to footie quite clearly, and is bound to only get worse. This may well become the "hottest rivalry" in all of world football.
