First of all, congratulations to Barry Bonds, the new homerun champion.
I thought Bacsik handled his press conference very well. He showed class, humor, and grace in the circumstances. He seems to have an attitude of "somebody had to give it up. I'm the one." He talked about how he didn't quite get the pitch down as much as he intended, that he and Bonds had talked (Barry gave him a bat -- "I didn't ask for it; he gave it to me.") He didn't want to give it up, but he seems to hve embraced it and is having as much fun with it as he can. I love his wry humor. "I guess Al Downing and I will be linked now. I just hope I can win 20 games and be an All-Star like he did." The comment about how he knows what Barry's father must have meant to him because his father played in the big leagues too was classy. That would be nice for a baseball lifer. Does anyone find it just a touch ironic that Bonds got the homerun off someone who is also the son of a major leaguer?
