DirectTV MLB Blackout

I hear that pretty soon MLB Extra Innings will only be available for subscibers who subscribe to Direct TV and be totally blacked-out for cable subscribers such as myself who enjoy seeing various out-of-town games...if this pending deal goes through (as it seems more likely it will), fans like me are toast! What a fool Selig and his minions are! Anybody hear the latest on this stupid move? At least I'll get to see the Nats games in their entirety via MASN/MASN2.

Yeah, it sucks but for the short term MLB will get more from DirecTV than they were getting from their old arrangement so the owners are loving it. Whether in the long term this deal results in fewer fans following baseball remains to be seen. Personally, I doubt that it will impact baseball negatively.

But this is all the result of the NFL having a similar exclusivity arrangement with DirecTV and they are raking in the bucks in a deal that MLB owners can only dream about.

And I'm in the same boat as you NatfanDC, I live in the MASN empire so I'll be able to watch all the games. I'm just looking forward to the day when they'll be in HD.
