Nationals signed first baseman Travis Lee to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training. The best he could do? As a fellow left-handed hitter, Lee shouldn't have any role on the Nationals if Nick Johnson is healthy. He'd be a better choice than Robert Fick or Larry Broadway to start at first base if Johnson begins the season on the DL. Maybe he'll have a little fantasy value during April. |

Nationals signed infielder D'Angelo Jimenez to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Jimenez likely has less chance than Tony Womack of winning a bench spot, but he would be the better choice, especially on a team as OBP deprived as the Nationals. In order to win a job, he'll have to show more on defense than he did with the A's at the end of last year. |
