Default Bourdon among Canucks' cuts off to AHL

The Vancouver Canucks announced Monday that the team has reduced their roster by eight players.
Defenceman Luc Bourdon and forwards Mike Brown, Patrick Coulombe, Jannik Hansen, Michael Grabner, Jason Jaffray and Rick Rypien have been sent to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
"Luc did OK during camp," said head coach Alain Vigneault. "We still believe we have a great hockey player there.
"He needs to do like all young kids. He needs to play in the American league and be a dominate player at that level. In the near future we will have a very good defenceman."
The roster currently sits at 24 players, including forwards Mason Raymond and Ryan Shannon, and defencemen Nathan McIver and Alex Edler.

"Players that deserve to be here are here," said Vigneault. "Both those players had good camps and they are going to start with us.
"We think they are good players and they will have a chance to prove it in the regular season."
Bourdon, 20, was drafted in the first round, 10th overall, by the Canucks in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
