In four playoff series in a row vs. the Sens, the Leafs defeated them. No matter what the odds, no matter how many injuries, the Leafs won every single one. And those odds were steep. Some of those series were being led by the Sens. The Leafs had to come from behind to defeat them. And despite the losses, the Sens have dominated the Leafs for years in the regular season. They have won trophies and set records with their play in the regular season that the Leafs have yet to copy. They are by no means a team without skill.
But they lack a killer instinct. When the game is on the line, they fail, each and every time. Even the one season they didn't have to face the Leafs in the playoffs, they ended their playoffs in game seven of their first Conference Finals in decades. To get to the cup that analysts have said is theirs, and even their own captain has proclaimed they would win, they needed to win. ... yet didn't. Oh, they're quite satisfied with their domination of the Leafs in the regular season. Comes up in every reply to our reminders about their playoff record vs. us. They remind us of how they continually outpoint us each and every year, and win trophies and set records that we don't have a prayer of receiving. And then each spring, they join us out on the links. Last year, with the Leafs in disarray and Belfour playing like he had been retired for ten years prior, the Leafs were on the verge of not even making the playoffs, let alone having a chance to stop the "mighty" Sens. Hovering around the final playoff spot in the East, and not having more than a game or two in hand, the Leafs faced an early spring. Thanks in part to Gary Butthead, and his idiotic scheduling, the early spring schedule including even more games vs. the Sens, whom we had played plenty of times before then. They, (the Sens,) were being handed a golden opportunity on a silver platter to put the nail in the coffin of Leaf playoff hopes with a couple of wins in a row against us. Surprise surprise... they failed again. The Leafs managed to win one of those two games, and the playoff hopes remained alive. They were shortlived, however, as the Montreal Canadians, and an injured Belfour replaced by an uninspired Mikael Telquvist finally, officially, nailed the coffin on Leaf playoff hopes last spring. Sens fans were indeed happy to see us "go," but could not waive the flag of having done so, despite having plenty of opportunity to do so. This year, again, the Leafs have a similarly idiotic schedule, and face the Sens a multitude of times. And again, the Sens had that same golden opportunity on that same silver platter to nail the coffin on Leaf playoff hopes. You guessed it - failed again. After an uninspired effort by the buds in the first game, they came back in the second game and fully controlled the game. That should not have been possible. The Leafs, still reeling from having to curtail their superstar spending to adhere to the new cap system, and with key players out injured (Leafs are among the top teams in man games lost this year), the Leafs got a win in one of the two games. Obviously, we're still on the bubble. We still might have an early spring. But after all the league has done to create rivalries like the one the Sens and Leafs enjoy, and all the efforts the Sens have put in to get past our killer instinct, they have failed again. Would it be ironic to see them actually win a cup this year while we don't make the playoffs? Of course. But as a Leaf fan, I'll still enjoy the fact that they could never put us away... And now let's pray that ol' Alfie doesn't have to blame his team's playoff losses on a player that "can't keep his balance." ![]()

You are complaining about my team for no reason. So what if you don't make the playoffs. It won't be because of the Leafs when we win the cup, it will be because we win due to winning. you lost or didn't make it when you had the chance against so many other teams if you don't make the playoffs this season. Just how far have the Leafs gone when beating the Sens?....not far, you didn't win much after that, and same with the Sens of course. Focus on getting into 7th or 8th place and facing the Sabres or the Devils. You and the Leafs better hope you don't end up in 8th place, even 7th your team is going to end up between a rock and a hard place. So focus on where it matters, not this negative innaccurate stuff lol

Oh, it's not meant as a "complaint" at all. Just a light jab from a rival fan.
And you're right that if the Leafs don't make the playoffs this year, they have only themselves to blame. That's very true. But since we don't have that much to be happy about lately, allow me the satisfaction of knowing that at least it wasn't the Sens who sealed our fate.
