tukka rask is poised once again to dominate the world juniors, would it not be another blow to the raycroft trade if tukka brings home another medal for finland ?
and what if he were not only to win a medal, but also the top goalie award also ? one wonders, how much that would sting ? |

Most re-entry players are taken later than they were initially picked. He would likely be taken in the second round. And even if he were picked in the first again, even if he were selected first overall there would be absolutely no economic benefit for him. Of course, if he falls to the second round he can be certain that he wouldn't be getting the rookie max $850k per contract... And I don't understand why the fact that boston hasn't signed him yet means anytthing. It has absolutely no bearing on his potential or his trade value last June. |

what truth, glg?
rask didn't play that well, nobody is running from that fact. but two things: 1) it was behind a very poor team (just like last year), and 2) it was six games. this sort of play was uncharacteristic of him. his performance last season wasn't. |

he did play well though. I only watched the Finland-Russia game with him, but from what I read, he looked good in the other games too. Finland took a boatload of penalties in every game so he spent unbelievable amounts of time playing when the team is on the PK and obviously let some goals in..
Just look at these stats. against Belarus: 26 PIM against Czechs: 20 PIM against Switzerland: 32 PIM against Russia: 28 PIM against USA: 65 PIM (sixty five) against Czechs: 26 PIM granted not all their penalties have been fair, but that's irrelevant to the fact that the team played short handed quiet a bit |

Who's our backup, then? Raycroft??
And I gotta say, giving up Carlo and Tucker??? Bad move for just a goalie. A goalie with about the same GAA and SV% as Raycroft. Tucker being one of our scoring leaders, and Carlo quickly coming into his own as an offensive defenseman, we'd be giving up a fair chunk of our game-winning offensive ability to land a goalie doing just as well (just as bad?) as Raycroft. Bad trade, IMO.
