Samardzijia signed on with the Cubbies.
5 years 20Mil, and a no-trade clause. Two option years. If only someone could have had some power of foresight to realize that a top 5 calibre player who is playing football as a SECOND SPORT might be willing to play in the majors and might be worth drafting.

It was ten, and Samardizijia is a good prospect that we should have drafted.
It happened yesterday. Chicago Cubs, Major League Baseball - CBS SportsLine.com

Why do you think Toronto should have signed this guy in particular? |

He was a two sport all-american, so I don't think he'll have too much trouble.
Baseball is a sport where he can determine his fate, rather than having to hope the QB throws him the ball.

Samardzija was a fifth-rounder. I thought at the time, as I do now, that he would have been a fine fourth or fifth rounder given his upside.
