Blue Jays replacing Mets in HOF Game
MLB.com
Quote:
Due to a television scheduling conflict, Major League Baseball announced Friday that the Blue Jays will replace the Mets in the upcoming Hall of Fame Game, which is scheduled for May 21 at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, N.Y.
The Mets were originally scheduled to take on the Orioles in the annual exhibition game. That was until ESPN recently selected the Mets-Yankees Interleague matchup for its Sunday night broadcast on May 20. Now, Toronto will play Baltimore in a rematch of the Hall of Fame Game in 1998 -- the last time the Jays played in Cooperstown.
"We were thrilled with the original matchup, but when Major League Baseball and ESPN have a chance to have the Mets and Yankees on the national Sunday night game of the week, we certainly understand," Hall of Fame president Dale Petroskey said in a release. "We're excited MLB has offered the Blue Jays. They've become one of the best teams in the American League."
