Default Rios Rumour??????

Hi guy's found this article on ESPN's website!!!!!

With Vernon Wells locked up, the Blue Jays will consider trading Alex Rios, ESPN's Buster Olney reports.

The Jays tried to trade Rios for Paul Maholm a year ago. Fortunately for them, the Pirates turned down the offer (bad GMs have a way of cancelling each other out sometimes). Rios went on to have his breakthough season, albeit one interriupted by a staph infection, and has a lot more value now. The Blue Jays shouldn't think about parting with him for anything less than a rising star pitcher with a similar amount of service time. We'd argue that Rios, being four years away from free agency, is worth even more in trade than Wells was a few days ago. Olney suggests that the Mets might be a match with Lastings Milledge and Aaron Heilman. That's the kind of pairing that might tempt the Jays.

I think this deal is a catch 22 to be honest, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't lol. What do you guy's think?

If we got a stud pitcher I would be okay with it. I am not convinced about Rio's yet. Yes he broke through last year but his performance really dwindled in the second half. Obviously you don't give him away, but we need pitching somehow and Reed won't fetch us as much.

I'd rather go the FA route, than trade Rios myself!!! JP is killing me, I wonder what he has planned?

What free agent do you want to sign? Jeff Suppan is likely to get 10 Million per year.

No thanks.

Mulder and Ohka/Redman
or
Suppan and Ohka/Redman

Why not, don't we have 20 million left?

I would think that at this point of their carreers, Mulder and Suppan would rather go to teams *expected* to compete now. Until the Jays are viewed as contenders, they will pay a nasty premium.

I really don't want to deal Rios though.

So you're saying the Jays are'nt *expected* to contend right now?
I fthat's the case you're sadly mistaken. The Jays have to up an
extra cash amount not much, is because of our taxes!! That's why player's
tend to stay away?!?! The Jay's are contenders mate, there's no bouncing around that?

P.S. And dealing Alex Rios is a no-no, unless it's on a plate?

We want them to. We hope they will. We expect they will. But 2nd place in a division with the Yankees, and with a Red Sox team buying its way out of third, perception is not on our side yet.

The province of Ontario doesn't have particularly high taxes?!! In fact lower than in many large MLB markets like New York and Los Angeles where the state taxes are similar to what we pay here?! And they also have higher country and city taxes??

Ok!!! If that were true how come it's an issue in the papers on T.V etc etc.....
Give your head a shake mate, our taxes are larger than the Americans period. It's been a problem for quite sometime??
