Speculation is that the BRaves will non tender him and he will become a free agent. I know he has dropped over the last year. But I think he has it in him to rebound and be a .800-.850 OPS guy which is money at second. Even if he just repeats last year he is still better than Royce Clayton.
I know the Padres will be a tough competitior for his services, but he would be a great fit with the Blue Jays. ANy idea what he is going to get salarywise? |

I think he's looking for a 2 to 3 year deal not sure about the dollars.
Here's a clip I copied from ESPN on him he might be traded? : Atlanta is likely to non-tender Giles by the Tuesday deadline, but is in talks with Pittsburgh about a possible trade that would send Giles, Adam LaRoche and Kyle Davies to the Pirates for Jose Castillo, Mike Gonzalez, Nate McLouth and Humberto Cota, the Savannah Morning News reports. |

He'd certainly be worth investigating. He's not a sure thing to rebound, but even at last year's level he'd be useful if the price is right. Now, I suspect he'll cost at least a moderate amount, but he could end up being a bargain for whoever gets him.

I'm sure he'll get at least $5mil/year in this market (probably significantly more... heck, Pedro "automatic strikeout" Feliz got 5 mil), and signing him would mean putting Hill at his weaker position. I'd pass.

I'm guessing he'll command 6-7 million/year. Even in his worst year last year, his bat wasn't really that far below Lugo's, and prior to last year his bat was quite a bit better than Lugo's, and he's also younger. He'll probably get less than Lugo did, due mainly to his down year and partly because Lugo can play short, but an argument can be made that Giles is really the more valuable.
I'm actually a bit surprised by this non-tender; in this market, he likely wouldn't be particularly overpriced in arbitration, and likely would have been an easily tradeable commodity. |

I'm surprised by the non tender as well.
We have money to spend and we need to improve our team in some way. Middle infield might not be the ideal place to do it but its still an improvement. He is a huge upgrade over Clayton. |
