ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have an agreement with free-agent outfielder Frank Catalanotto on a three-year contract worth $13 million plus a club option for a fourth year, according to club officials.
Catalanotto hit .300 with a .376 on-base percentage for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2006. In 128 games and 437 at-bats, Catalanotto scored 56 runs with 36 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 56 RBIs.
Catalanotto played for the Rangers from 2000-2002. He has played second base for them, but has played almost exclusively in left field and designated hitter for the Blue Jays over the past four years.
Catalanotto could be the Rangers leading option as a leadoff hitter if they can't re-sign center fielder Gary Matthews Jr.
The contract is pending a physical that is expected to take place on Tuesday.

A decent signing. I liked him as a jay but $4,000,000 is to much to pay a platoon player. Best of luck Frank!
