Default Idea to make the DRays better, or at least older

Lineup:
BJ Upton CF
Carl Crawford LF
Miguel Tejada SS*
Carlos Pena 1B
Barry Bonds or Sammy Sosa, DH
Delmon Young RF
Evan Longoria/Joel Guzman 3B
Akinori Iwamura 2B
Paul Lo Duca C

Bench: Joel Guzman, Dioner Navarro, Ben Zobrist, Rajai Davis or some other free agent OF.

Starting Five:
Scott Kazmir
James Shields
Curt Schilling
Edwin Jackson
Jeff Niewmann/Andy Sonnanstine/David Price (second half of the season)

Pen:
Eric Gagne or Francisco Cordero
Kerry Wood
Dan Wheeler
Jonathan Sanchez*
Brian Burres*

*Trade Brendan Harris, Rocco Baldelli, and Jonny Gomes to Baltimore for Miguel Tejada and Brian Burres
*Trade Elijah Dukes to the Giants for Jonathan Sanchez and Rajai Davis.
- Decline option on Al Reyes

If I didn't think you were serious, I'd be howling.

Barry Bonds? Curt Schilling? What bank are the Rays going to rob to sign these guys, even considering these players would want to sign here?

Why would the Rays want Miguel Tejada and his 10 million per year price tag? Maybe it's not as good as Tejada, but Brendan Harris is giving good production at a fraction of the price.

Do you really think the Rays will get anyone, let alone a quality ML player, for Elijah Dukes? He has potential, but he didn't do much at the big league level and he's a bucket full of problems.

Paul Lo Duca. Another old guy? The Rays want to get younger.

Also, the Cubs can keep the oft-injured Kerry Wood. Talent for days yes, but there are few things more frustrating to fans than the player with talent who is constantly on the DL.

Obviously you're someone who enjoys the game, but most of these trades / signings just don't make sense. It seems you're trying to make the Rays a contender quickly, and if you read what the owners and GM say, that is not their focus. They want to build through draft picks, and then will strengthen the team with veteran free agents.

But I do enjoy these wacky trade threads.

What's the point of the thread? The title is an argument and the content is wishful thinking to a grand degree.

He aint going to the NL.... Yankees and Red Sox do not need Bonds. Schilling said he wouldn't mind playing for the D-Rays.

They already have a young guy at catcher... they need a veteran... I personally think they will sign Jorge Posada but Lo Duca is nice fall back option.

Yes, the D-Rays will shock the world... they will outbid the Yankees for Posada and become a contender this offseason.
