Question Roster

So, let’s make this one assumption: Roco comes back healthily and is not traded…

Do you put him back in center and move Upton back to 2nd?

Or maybe you put Upton back at short as we don’t seem to have a steady player there and leave Harris at 2nd?

I know Upton has had issues at short but with the way he has been chasing things down in center, maybe he warrants another look there. He can’t be any worse that Zobrist (who is now on the DL).

Thoughts??????

There is absolutely no way the Rays move Upton from his CF position. He looks like he was born to play there, and he's only going to get better.

Assuming Rocco comes back, stays healthy, and is not traded, he'll probably become part of the rotation known as OF / DH.

But one has to believe he'll be traded in the off-season. He simply doesn't play into the Rays plans anymore, barring injuries. He is also too talented to sit on the bench as a reserve.

Then maybe they move Rocco to 2nd???? Chipper Jones can play the outfield and a base, not that I am comparing Rocco to Chipper, just showing that something like that is possible....

Transitioning to the middle infield is tough. One of your OF needs to be dealt, with Crawford, Upton, Young, Baldelli and Gomes all at starter or better quality, and Norton a solid bench bat.

Trading someone from that group for a starter and reliever would be excellent.

You aren't interested in Horacio Rameriz at all are you?

While that kind of trade would be ideal, but with this ownership group, I don't have a whole lot of confidence that something like that would happen.

I e-mailed Marc at TBO and he suggested maybe some 1st base down the road and DH to protect his injured legs...

I hadn't thought of that, maybe he could be a long term solution at 1st.
