Before the series with Boston, the St. Petersburg Times crowed about the Rays being "Alone in first place" because they were percentage points ahead of the Red Sox...

Not alone in first place, just a miniscule couple of inches of space between the two teams.

Of course the Rays then went to Boston and got swept and looked pathetic in teh process, but that's besides the point.

Last nights win (what is wrong with Troy Percival??) in extra innings put the Rays in first place by a half game.

I've been posting in the Rays forum on fanHome off and on as Sidd Finch and other names since 1999. I never thought they'd play this well with the direction of the franchise for so many years. I am glad they are proving me wrong.
