Default Gomes

And just why doesn't he play at least 5 out of 7 days????????????

If i was another MLB team i'd trade for him in a heartbeat, he's cheap and a great guy to plub into the 6 hole in a lineup.

Losers like Hinkse and Haynes and Floyd taking good AB away over the long term.

I'm sorry but why are you getting all excited about Jonny Gomes? Oh, he's played well and I love his all-heart attitude. He wowed me with that his rookie season with the Rays.

Then think back to the last two seasons. He started off ultra-hot and then went to ultra rot after he got hurt in 2006. 2007 was just one huge forgettable pile of garbage for him. he'd play so poorly he'd be sent down, get called up and play well for two weeks and then settle back down into a K-machine.

Why isn't he playing every day? He's never taken full advantage of it when he has had the chance before. Would I willingly trade him if another team came along? Depends on the offer. I absolutely love when he's playing balls-to-the-wall baseball and actually hitting the ball. When he tries to be a power fiend, he suffers at the plate and then suffers in the field.

Cliff Floyd -- DL just as expected.... smart money there.

You have to be excited for what he produces for the money. He's the ideal pick for a team with small revenues. Like i said a perfect 6-7 hitter.

You play him 5 days a week, sit him against selected RHP and you take your .260-25-80-15 for less than a million i'm betting.

The goal is to win baseball games -- Does Jonny Gomes have extensive veteran experience to lend to the younger players? Has he played for playoff teams? Has he fought in a pennant chse? Can he be looked up to?

There are intangibles you can't put a price on with veterans like Floyd. I'm not all hyped up on Cliff but I'm not going to go ga-ga over Gomes even if his cost-effectiveness is grand.

So Cliff Floyd gets teh GWRBI last night and comes through again today. BJ Upton was quoted in teh paper yesterday about Floyd's influence on the locker room and how he has been very much a part of the reason that the team is performing like it is...

Hmmm, vet influence...
