Default Who holds more trade value?

OK, so the buzzards are circling the kill but at the same time there is a lot of fresh meat on the Devil Ray carcus... I'm going to throw out some names on who has the greatest trade value -- it doesn't mean who the Rays should try to trade... Just which player(s) hold the highest trade value for the Rays.

Multiple answers are possible.

John Romano -- sports columnist for the Times -- chimes in on the possibility of trading Rocco Baldelli

LAKE BUENA VISTA

His value has always been easy to measure.

Rocco Baldelli was so impressive as a high school baseball player in Rhode Island that the Devil Rays made him the No. 6 pick in the 2000 draft.

Baldelli was so talented as a major-leaguer that, even coming off two major surgeries, the Rays gave him a long-term contract at age 24.

And now Baldelli may be so valuable as trade bait that the Rays could ignore the inherent risks and criticisms and move him in exchange for pitching help.

If the notion sounds unpleasant, it should. Everything about Baldelli screams keeper. His talent, his contract, his attitude. He is the type of player a team such as the Rays would normally covet as a building block.

Lots of things have been said about the Braves being really interested in Baldelli. Anything new on that that you guys have heard?

Nothing new, per se. The Braves want Rocco as the eventual replacement for Andruw Jones, the Rays need pitching, the Braves are offering players... The Braves have good pitching prospects that don't seem to end up as good once they hit the majors, etc...

And yes, technically Kazmir holds more value than any of the Rays position players because pitching is such a premium in MLB...

That is an imposable question to answer.

Most of them players are Rookies or 2nd Year players and that the Rays still have them for 2 More years or more at a cheep price and they still have more value keeping them then what they can get for them.

But if you want an answer you have to say Crawford for he is the only one that has been around for awhile.

We don't need prospects any longer, we need starting pitching. As good as this outfield can be with CC, Rocco and Delmon, why move him? And they're in their prime.

The reason is simply because the Rays are being priced out in the Free Agent binge spending this off season. Bad clubs are overpaying players, good clubs are sayin these bad clubs are setting market value, etc.

You're right, we don't need prospects. But acquiring bonafide major leaguers may only be accomplished through trade....
