It seems the Tampa Bay Rays (formerly the Devil Rays -- like I won't call them that from time to time) have let a secret get out.
Looks like that may be the case -- though I have to tell you that these duds look too San-Diego like... Or at least invoke it a bit too much for me. View fan opinions on The Heater blog from the St. Pete Times and here are the images: ![]() Home ![]() Road ![]() Alt 1 ![]() Alt2 ![]()

Wow, I think these suck. My first reaction was they look like the Seattle Mariners uniforms. Is that little flash of yellow supposed to indicate the sun?
But I do think the Rays should sign this guy "Player" who is modeling the uniforms. He looks like a good ballplayer. |

They invoke too much of other teams to me every time I look at this. The Padres, the Brewers, the Angels of old (the new agey Angels of the 1990's before Disney ruined logo), the Marlins... But it's the Padres that I keep seeing because the Pads have gone well away from what they are with their current logo (that has the little wave on it and a ton of blue).
The 2nd ALternate uniform --the cap specifically-- is embarrassing. I wouldn't want to be caught in that thing. You know, i thought the Tampa Bay Lightning's new logo and duds were bad. I was wrong. And simply renaming the team "Rays" will not prevent me from calling them the Devil Rays, or D-Rays or some other varation from time to time. They wanted to change the team entirely and they blew the chance. Ditch the fish, ditch the "Ray" concept and go in a new direction...

Good question on the Rays tank, seeing they are focusing on the Sun rays more than the fish rays.
