I got up thsi morning and went ot read the paper like always and saw this big bold headline that said Jake Plummer turned down a trade to the Bucs. Rejected is more like it. Chose retirement over being dealt here.
What year are we living in?! 1994?! Yes, the basis of Plummer's rejection was being involved in a QB controversy again. He didn't want to be. At the same time, this really has the smell of "Same Old Bucs" to it. Plummer isn't all that special and would be another one of Jon Gruden's project QB's that he loves to give extra life to... Or to TRY to give extra life to. It looks ridiculous though from all ends. |

In the long run the Bucs would be better off with someone like Chris Simms than Jake Plummer. Plummer can only succeed with Gary Kubiak.
But with Plummer not going to the Bucs, maybe they will go after Jeff Garcia, who is a better fit in the Gruden system than Plummer.

And now he is retiring......
gotta love it In the end, no harm no foul.....we lost nothing....if he chooses to come back we have his rights and hopefully can ship him off to Houston for Carr or some picks

I was joking around on a non-sports forum with a few friends of mine about this. Joking but sadly scared it may come true...
...Watch Gruden use this as an excuse to go draft Brady Quinn. |

Yet today, the Bucs are still waiting for Plummer:

A QB junkyard in Tampa Bay?, haha. Jake is going downhill, I wouldn't want anything to do with him. He shows no desire to play and why would you want a guy like him. If Jake does come, the QB controvery in Tampa will just get even more coverage....

Gruden gets all hot and bothered at the idea of a project QB. Look at some of the guys he's brought into Tampa for even a short amount of time and you'll see he tries with everyone but rarely succeeds.
