FSN preview.
FOX Sports on MSN - MLB - Game Trax The lineups should be here before game time. I appreciate y'all putting up with my looney comments. I think Wells is crap for the Cardinals. I will be happy if I am proven wrong. I hope I post something helpful and worthwhile sometimes. I mean well. I want the Cardinals to win, how ever it is. Mulder started the game very well. 9 pitch 1st inning. 2nd inning he did his Kip Wells impression (if you know what I mean). 3rd inning he looked fine and 4th inning he reverted back to Wells impressions.
Overall, I thought he did fairly well for his 1st major league game in over a year. Hopefully, he can build on his first and third innings performance in his next start. On Offense - other than Ankiel's shot into the right field stands, it was pretty boring. Duncan needs to sit. 3 K's - 2 looking.

Mulder looked pretty good at times last night. He hit as high as 93 on the FSMW gun (which is rumored to be slow). Unfortunately he couldn't maintain that velocity. I hope that is remedied with a few more starts.
Of note though is; he threw very few breaking balls. I don't recall a single 12-6 curveball. I would guess that he wasn't able to locate it in his warm-ups, so they abandoned it. The biggest problem was just not finishing his pitches. He was leaving balls up in the zone and didn't have good command. All-in-all, IMHO, it was an encouraging start. It looks like the tools are there he just needs to fine tune the mechanics and build some stamina. |
