Default Beginning to take shape (Springfield - AA)

Just ran across this article on the Springfield News-Leader site - a phone interview between Kary Booher (writer) and Jim Riggleman - on what the Springfield Cards could look like next summer. Some surprises could be seen at Hammons Field next summer according to the article. Colby Rasmus (CF) and Bryan Anderson (C) are both being considered to start at Springfield.

Default AA

Thanks for the link, BleacherBum.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Rasmus starts CF for AA.

And if 19 yo Anderson starts the season at AA, that would be great.
But I think they'll put him thru the FSL (where it's notoriously
tough on hitters) before moving him up.

What do you think about Riggleman?
A LR Traveler fan who has kept up an
acquaintance with Riggleman introduced
me to him when he was in town for the
last games at Ray Winder Field. R. was
busy but took a few moments to look me
in the eye and answer a (dumb) question
from me. (I asked him who would get to
the majors first: Stavinoha or Marti. Like
a good PR man, he didn't answer the question
only saying a few good things about each player,
i.e, "we like both players," "they both have some
good traits," and other such non-answers they
must teach in the minors -- like "take it one day
at a time" "it's really great to be here" "I'm working
on some things" "I just want to improve" "I want to
help the team win" etc.

I would guess that Yarbrough would catch at AA and Anderson starts at Palm Beach.

Both are talents and interesting prospects.

I agree. I saw both last year, and at times Yarborough looked better offensively. They sent Yarborough up to Palm Beach and let Bryan stay in Quad Cities in order to get them both playing time. I think they will do that with them this year, the question is which teams. To me, Bryan is better defensively in the long run because according to reports he works so well with pitchers. So maybe it will depend on which pitchers he will be working with.

From everything that I've seen or heard, Anderson has the most upside between the 2.

They may want to challenge him by skipping Palm Beach and sending him directly to Springfield, similar to what they did with Yadier when he was coming up thru the system.

I think the Cards are fortunate to have someone of his caliber working in the organization. I'm surprised no other organization has come trying to pry him away from us.

Now that Manno has been replaced by Luhnow, I wonder how much JR's job will expand working with the minor leaguers?
