Lineup
1. S Schumaker, CF 2. F Lopez, 2B 3. A Pujols, 1B 4. R Ludwick, LF 5. T Glaus, 3B 6. A Kennedy, RF 7. A Miles, SS 8. T Wellemeyer, P 9. M Johnson, C No Izturis? I may watch this game. Where's Barden? Oh, yeah. Tony is still there. If Izturis is with the Cardinals next year and he plays when it counts, like he has this week, I might like him, then. I will still hate the damage he did to our team this year. Along with pitching, we need a SS. He wasn't it in 2008. He is called a great fielder. Huge blunders in in the field in the clutch. No batting during the race. The ball occasionally hit his bat when he tried to hold up. His bad. Game winning single! We need a SS that can field and hit LH pitchers. Bullpen and Izturis is where I put the blame. Izzy told everybody he could pitch. No way. Carp thought he could pitch. If they can get a good return on Kennedy and not eat his salary that would be good. Will he leave and have a great year somewhere? Cards win their 85th game by a score of 8-5. Albert with #37. Wellemeyer finishes a good season with 13 wins. Perez shows, once again, why TLR would not annoint him the closer. In the 9th, Pasterson reached on an error by Albert. Perez Kd 2 and then gave up a 2 run HR to Hairston, Jr. Kepplinger followed with a doublr. Perez finally got Votto to FO to left.
Back with the recap in a few minutes. |

The Cards had 13 hits. Albert hit #37. He has 100+ RBIs, 100+ BBs and now 100 runs scored. His batting average went down to .356. With Chipper not playing, he won't be able to take the batting crown. Glaus had 2 hits with his 26th HR. He has 98 RBIs. Miles and Ludwick each had 2 singles. Lopez hit his 6th HR and Kennedy had a double. Schu, Wellemyer, Izturis and Johnson each had a single.
Wellemeyer ended up 23-9. He went 6 1/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits with 1 BB and 3 Ks. His ERA for the year is 3.71. Springer got his 15th hold. He got the 2 batters he faced. His ERA is 2.34. Kinney went 1 inning. He gave up 1 hit and Kd 2. He has not given up a run since his return. Perez went 1 inning as mentioned. He gave up 2 runs (unearned) with 2 Ks. I don't know how a HR is not considered an earned run even if it did come with 2 down. He is lucky that his ERA is 3.46. Listening to Mo on that interview, it sounds like the Cards will consider bringing Izzy back or they will shop the FA market for a closer. Good idea. Last game of the year coming up tomorrow afternoon. It will be Lohse vs Pettyjohn. See ya later. |
