Default Game Thread #152 - STL@CIN - 09/18/08

Probables: Kyle Lohse vs Edinson Volquez @ 6PM.

New-look lineup ( I thought we had that every day with Tony.)
New-look lineup likely vs. Volquez | stlcardinals.com: News
One member of the organization guessed it might simply be a "blue team," consisting almost entirely of reserves and young players.
(Hey, that is what I have wanted for a week! Losing with them is better than losing with Kennedy and Izturis.)

Nothing like having Izturis and Kennedy in there.
Even, if they play good and our team wins. I think that destroys us for next year.
I hate that lineup. Pay Izturis and Kennedy to go away.

{Bandit Gallion is glowing he is so happy that the whole world could see his criminal activity on this play.
The fielder was NOT even in the neighborhood on this play. Runners first and second. No! Not by bandit Gallion.
This is why instant replay should be an option on every play. Some of those bandits never want to make an honest call.
This was even more glaring than their average thefts they do every day. Even Ray Charles could see that.
It would have really made me angry, if this game really meant anything. Denkinger?}

Thank you Jason. Too close for comfort. Cards win 5-4 and break the losing streak.
Back with the recap in a few minutes.

Cards were powerhouses tonight. Thay had 6 hits with the new vitalized lineup. Albert hit #34 with 2 men on. Glaus and Kennedy had a double each and Lopez, Johnson and Ludwick each had a single. I didn't realize that we had Kennedy and Johnson leading Cardinal Nation.
Lohse finally earned his 14th win. He's 14-6. He went 6 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits with 2 BB and 5 Ks. Springer got his 13th hold by getting the only batter he faced to pop out to SS. Franklin got his 13th hold. He went 1 inning giving up 1 hit. Perez proved once again that he needs seasoning. He got his 6th hold but no save. He went 2/3 of an inning giving up 1 run on 1 hit with 2 BBs and 1 K. Motte saved the day and earned his 1st major league save. He got Kepplinger to FO to center for the last out.
That's it for tonight. Tomorrow, it's on to Wrigley and Wainwright vs. Nobraino.
Pineiro may miss his start on Sat. His wife is delivering twins.
See ya later.
