Who were those masked men? Who was that pitcher taking the place of a usually tentative Mitch Boggs? Whose offense did we steal? Cards win 5-1.
Back with the recap in a few minutes.

If we can win tomorrow, we will only be one game shy of .500 in interleague play

2-4 vs. Royals
2-1 vs. Red Sox
1-2 vs. Tigers
2-1 vs. Rays
---
7-8

That's a pretty tough interleague schedule, I think. While the Royals may not be 'tough', we caught 'em when they were on a roll. And the other 3 teams are unquestionably good, the Tigers are better than their record.

My last post disappeared so you missed out on my terrible humor.
Cards win 5-1. They had 7 hits but this time they were timely. Ank's 15th HR was the big blow. Ludwick, Ank and Duncan took much better ABs. Ludwick had a double which was the only other extra base knock. Schu, Miles, Albert, Duncan and Yadi each had a single.
Who was that masked pitcher who filled in for Mith Boggs? This was the Boggs we thought was coming up. What a difference a start makes. He was tremendous. Mitch is 3-0. He gave us a quality start going 6 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits with 4 BBs and 6 Ks. The only run scored in the 7th when McClellan gave up a double that allowed an inherited runner in. We may have another starter. Kyle let that run in but it was the only hit he allowed in 2 innings of work. He Kd 1. His ERA is 2.49. Springer finished it with 1 inning giving up only a BB. His ERA is 2.19.
Great win. Since the Cubs lost, we are back to 3 1/2 out of 1st place and we have our 1st win of the 2nd half.
Tomorrow afternoon, it's Loop vs. Bannister.
See ya later.
