Cardinals don't have the talent to sustain hot start
There are few on it you would want for your team other than Albert Pujols.
Heck, there might be no one on it you could name other than Albert Pujols.

Additions and corrections are appreciated.

Pre-game, it was announced that Pinero was placed on the DL, & Jimenez has been called up from Memphis.

What!?! Ludwick playing over Duncan? Oh my, better defense (which is pretty sad when you think about it) better offensive production....Tony must be feeling ill.

Nice diving catch from Ankiel in the first. Lets get some runs early please.

Nearly perfect lineup card, Tony. Let's see that more often.

I'd stick with Schumaker over Barton, but it's probably Tony's reward for Barton's homer last night and that's fine by me.

Yahoo play by play
MLB - Houston Astros/St. Louis Cardinals Box Score Wednesday May 28, 2008 - Yahoo! Sports

St. Louis Inning Summary

- B. Ryan singled to center
- R. Ankiel reached on fielder's choice, B. Ryan to third on second baseman K. Matsui's throwing error
- A. Pujols intentionally walked

- R. Ludwick walked, B. Ryan scored, R. Ankiel to third, A. Pujols to second
This guy has got to go. He plays the Cards score.
I see Tony in the dugout. He hasn't been carried to a rubber room with no doorknobs, yet.
Duncan and Kennedy have to have AB's.

- T. Glaus fouled out to first
- Y. Molina grounded out to third, R. Ankiel scored, A. Pujols to third, R. Ludwick to second
- A. Pujols scored, R. Ludwick to third on wild pitch
- B. Barton walked
- A. Wainwright grounded into fielder's choice, B. Barton out at second
- End of Inning (3 Runs, 1 Hit, 1 Error)

Cards win it 6-1. Wainwright and Perez. That's a combo that we're going to hear a lot from for many years to come.
Back with the recap in a few minutes.

The Cards had 8 hits. Ryan, Yadi and Barton each had 2 singles. Izturis had the only extra base hit-a triple and Ludwick had a single. It was really over in the 1st. The Cards scored 3 and that's all they needed.
Wainwright was in control all the way. He is 5-2. He went 8 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits with 1 BB and 8 Ks. He threw 110 pitches and his ERA is 2.86. Perez finished it. He gave up 1 hit in the 9th. He still hasn't given up an earned run.
That's it for tonight. Tomorrow evening, it's Lohse Vs. Oswalt. It doesn't matter how Oswalt is struggling right now. He always gives the Cards fits. Lohse will have to be on his game.
See ya later.
