Memphis In May.
In Memphis, the worldwide Bar B Que Championship is going on.
I have a friend who has some money and lives downtown.
He has a nice personal tent set up right on the scene. He invited me.
Going half hog: Ms. Piggie contest attracts just 2 competing teams : Local News : Commercial Appeal

At Autozone is P.J. Walters and the Redbirds.
I have been curious about that strange pitch.
Can ColbyRasmus play ball? I haven't seen it.
I don't have a ticket.
No rain forecast. By the end of the game it might be about 60 degrees.
Mild north wind, towards RF.

I usually don't like being out driving Friday and Saturday night.
There will be unbelievable crowds all over downtown on the river.
If I'm not here for baseball, I likely am out on the road risking life and limb, participating in that fun.
It takes time for me to recover from large crowds.

I was at Autozone to see P.J. Walters. He did not have a good game.
I did stand behind home plate and saw some screwball.
Some broke down, too.
On a lot of batters, he got 2 easy first strikes and couldn't close the deal.

Recap
Memphis Redbirds: News: Article

Memphis Redbirds: Scoreboard: Scoreboard
Oklahoma Top 1st

Jason Ellison grounds out, third baseman David Freese to first baseman Josh Phelps.
Ryan Roberts singles on a ground ball to left fielder Cody Haerther.
Nelson Cruz singles on a line drive to left fielder Cody Haerther. Ryan Roberts to 2nd.
Jason Botts grounds into a force out, second baseman D'Angelo Jimenez to shortstop Brian Barden. Ryan Roberts to 3rd. Nelson Cruz out at 2nd. Jason Botts to 1st.
Nate Gold walks. Jason Botts to 2nd.
John Mayberry hit by pitch. Ryan Roberts scores. Jason Botts to 3rd. Nate Gold to 2nd.

Walters threw 2 really easy first strikes. He plunked him right on the shoulder.
Without that, no runs score on an out.

Drew Meyer singles on a line drive to center fielder Colby Rasmus. Jason Botts scores. Nate Gold scores. John Mayberry to 2nd.
Travis Metcalf singles on a line drive to left fielder Cody Haerther. John Mayberry scores. Drew Meyer to 2nd.
Kevin Richardson walks. Drew Meyer to 3rd. Travis Metcalf to 2nd.
Jason Ellison grounds out, pitcher P. Walters to first baseman Josh Phelps.

Two strikes and more hits and runs, over and over.
He looked like a RH junk pitcher. Usually lefties throw junk.

With Walters struggling, I was totally bored for 5 innings.
No chance for fielding with everything going in holes.
Scherer came in. He looks big.
He didn't show any 90's, but Oklahoma didn't do good against him.

Mather homered again in the first.
Phelps had a good game.
Rasmus still did nothing.

Then, it got interesting.
Oklahoma didn't show any good fielding. Runs score.
Phelps gave a long high 3 RBI blast.
It would have hit the bluff, but it went in the CF gap and out of Autozone.

Mark Worrell and Jason Motte finished the win.
They were the best I have seen them be.

Worrell was throwing low risers and sidearm sinkers. Nasty.
Motte was fast. They had a lead and weren't throwing balls. K's.
On one batter Motte threw a mid 90's, a 83MPH change and a 91MPH heater and the batter had no chance. K's.
A guy I was sitting near started yelling "Swing - Now!" before Motte even got on the mound. It was funny, but they would
have had just as much chance hitting those pitches. The scoreboard started showing a long string of K's.
I saw amazing pitching at the finish. I love it.

I am still around lurking - just going through a period where my time on line is limited. Coop I still check here and use your minor league threads as my jump point to each boxscore for the farm teams.

Thanks for doing this each day.

I'm glad you are doing well.
I found a lot of information in your posts.
I'm just trying to keep up about the players.
Thank you.
