Cards have runners on 2nd (Schu) and 3rd (Ryan) w/ 1 down and Albert coming up....who is walked intentionally....Ankiel stepping in w/ the bases loaded....fouls out to Fielder in foul territory by the dugout....up to Ludwick....
Ludwick delivers a sharp single off Gagne to LF scoring both Ryan and Schu to give the Cards a 5-3 lead!!!!!....still 2 runners on with 2 down here in the top of the 9th.... |

Franklin does the job....retires the first two....runner on 2nd (double) w/ Fielder stepping in....who grounds out 4-1 to end the game....nice to get a save....
Cards win 5-3.... We have tornados all around this State with a number of them sighted....will we have an Ewt sighting here as well?.... |

After doing his best Izzy impression, Franklin gets Fielder to win it 5-3.
Why isn't Ludwick the every day RFer? All he does is drive in game winning runs. Joel deserved a win but it's great to break the losing streak and hold on to 1st place. Back with the recap in a few minutes. |

Once again, it was a team win. The Cards had 12 hits and every position player had at least 1. Brendan had 3 with a double and Schu had 2 singles. Duncan had a 2 run HR. The rst each had a single. Miles, Albert, Ankiel, Kennedy, Yadi and, most importantly- Ludwick. His 2 out clutch base hit plated 2 to win the game.
Pineiro was great. Don't go by his pitching line. McClellan walked in 2 of his inherited runners. Joel's line reads 6 1/3 innings pitched giving up 2 runs on 4 hits with 3 BBs and 4 Ks. McClellan got his 12th hold but read the above. He went 2/3 of an inning giving up 2 BBs. Villone got his 1st blown save. He gave up a HR to Fielder and that was the only batter he faced. Springer got the win. He's 1-0. He went 1 inning giving up 1 hit and 2 BBs. Franklin got his 2nd save. He went 1 inning giving up a double to Braun. So far today, Chi beat Ariz 7-2 and Cinc lost to the NYM 12-6. Houston and Pitts play later tonight. That's it for now. Tomorrow afternoon, it will be Loop vs. Soup. See ya later. |
