Last chance to get a win in April.
Probables: Braden Looper vs Aaron Harang @ noon. Come on Braden and Cards. Harang has been tough for us. We are not in first place, yet. I think most people can get this telecast. I'll be out at Autozone for those Redbirds and Mulder. Cards set a new franchise record for wins in April at 18. They win it 5-2. Loop was able to hang in for the win and the BP was great. More on that in the recap. We''l be hoping for a Milw win tonight to put us in 1st place as the Cubs come in for the weekend.
Back with the recap in a few minutes. |

The Cards are 18-11 to finish April. They are in 1st place by 1/2 but tied in the loss column. After losing on Mon night, they came back to take the series.
The Cards had 13 hits. Ank led the way with 3 singles. Miles had 2 doubles. Schu and Ludwick each had a double and Albert, Dunc, LaRue, Loop, Barton, and Ryan each contributed a single. The score was 3-2 going into the bottom of the 7th. Barton pinch hit for McClellan and singled. Ryan sac bunted him to 2nd. Miles hit an RBI double and Ank knocked him in. That gave the BP a little breather. Loop is 4-1. He roughed it out for 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits with 2 BBs and 4 Ks. His ERA is 3.86. McClellan got his 7th hold. He went 1 inning giving up 2 hits with a K. His ERA is 1.72. Villone was brought in to face Dunn and he got him to pop out to Albert. He got his 3rd hold. Franklin finished the 8th perfectly with a K. He got his 9th hold and his ERA is 1.93. Izzy got his 9th save with a perfect 9th. Nice to see that. It looks like we're going to need Loop and Wellemeyer for a while. Mulder was rocked at Memphis. I'll be back after the Milw-Cub game tonight. Friday night, it will be Wainwright vs. Hill. See ya later. |
