Cards win 7-2.
When the only 2 negatives to be upset about are Reyes' giving up a 2 run HR to Dunn in the 9th and Albert leaving 9 men on, it's not a bad night. All of the Card's scoring came in the 1st 2 innings but it held up because of another great quality start by Pineiro. Back with the recap in a few minutes. |

The Cards had 15 hits. Schu led the way with 4. Ank had 3 with 2 doubles. Glaus had 2 with a double and Izturis and Kennedy each had 2 singles. I like the lineup with Schu batting 1st and Kennedy 2nd. It gave Albert a bunch of opportunities which he didn't cash in on. Yadi had a double and Dunc had a single.
Pineiro was brilliant. He started out a little shaky but he settled down to go 7 innings giving up 1 hit with 4 BBs and 3 Ks. He has evened his record at 2-3 and his ERA is 3.75. Villone pitched a perfect 8th with a K. His ERA is 0.93. Reyes is either very good or very bad. He seems to fair better in long relief. He went 1 inning giving up 2 runs on 2 hits. QC lost this afternoon and Springfield won tonight. Memphis came from down 7-1 but they are losing 9-7 in the bottom of the 9th. Be sure to check in with Coop for the Memphis final and the rest of the minor league news. The Mutts beat Pitts 5-4 in 10 and Milw leads at Chi 10-7 in the 8th. That'll do it for tonight. Tomorrow afternoon, it's Loop vs. Harang. Forget his record. He's always been a handful for the Cards. See ya later. |
