I hitting the road early Tuesday morning with Cranny on a business trip that will eventually take us down to Florida and coincidentally Jupiter. We should be able to check on the back fields of Jupiter on Saturday (AA & AAA at St Lucie that day) and then catch the 2 Braves-Cardinal games on Sunday/Monday.
If you have any player(s) that you want us to try to check out, post your question(s) on this thread. I'll try to get back here a couple of times this week to check the thread.

We're making a stop in Atlanta for business today/tomorrow. Beautiful, short sleeve weather. Beats the heck out of what we were experiencing in St Louis.
I'll make sure to check on Mather & Motte. Personally, I think Joey Bombs has a shot going north as Spiezo's replacement.

According to the Weather channel, it could be pushing 80+ for the game on Friday. That'll be a shock to the system ;-)
If I planned this right and the Cards don't mess me up (you listening Dave Duncan), we'll get to see one of my favorite pitchers - Kyle McClellan. I'm also hoping to get to spend some time with Cody Hearther and John Vuch. Maybe I can talk Cranny into taking everyone out for dinner Sunday nite. (Miracles do happen from time to time). Then I'll be in "heaven" Autobody!

Aside from how the pitching looks....especially the young guns....I'd like your's and Cranny's opinions on how the middle IF is shaping up. We appear extremely weak here. Also opinions on Mather, Barton, etc. Both appear to be having good springs....but you can only tell so much from the box scores.... Enjoy yourselves guys and thanks. |

Only have a couple of minutes before I have to go somewhere.
Mather has an excellent chance of making this team. Especially with Juan going down with an ab injury. I heard he's due for an MRI to check it out. Motte - I think he goes to Memphis for more seasoning. Perez - has a chance to make this team. Cranny and I talked about him on the way back to the hotel tonight. 5 of the spots in the BP are pretty well set. Izzy as the closer, Franklin and Springer from the right side, Flores & Villone from the left. That leaves 2 openings. Thompson as one of the long relievers. And we think that Perez should start in long relief in the beginning. Then midway thru the year, start giving him some 7th & 8th inning exposure. Then use him entirely as a setup man during the final month or so. Brian Barton - looks like the real deal. Very athletic, has speed. Arm may not be strong, so LF may be his spot. Roped a nice shot down the LF line today for a double off Glavine. Didn't see it, but he had a triple yesterday. Jaime Garcia - looked very good in relief at Vero on Friday. I'd like to see him get some exposure at Memphis this year and then get a sept callup Clayton Mortenson - looked very good on Friday, but tired in the 4th and started falling behind in the counts till he eventually grooved one for a HR. If he can stay healthy, the future SS will be Tyler Greene. Watched him on the back fields the last 2 days and was very impressed. Has good size and movement. Pete Kozma - watched him on the back fields today and was not impressed by him. Especially being a #1 pick. Had the chance today to talk to Mark Lamping, shake his hand and wish him the best in his new job. Got to run. More later in the week when I have some free time BB593
