Interesting to note that the Cards are bringing over Mark McCormick for the big lieague game today. This is almost a make or break year for him. Injuries have really curtailed his pitching growth since being highly drafted a few years ago.
Derrick Goold is reporting sunshine at Roger Dean, so it looks like they'll be playing at least the day game.

Its now 6-5 Nats heading to the 9th. Chris Perez on to pitch.
Cards tried to squeeze 3 innings out of Castellanos instead of 2 and they paid the price - 2 run HR. Springer comes in the next inning and gives up another run. Barton is having his best day as a Card. 4-5 with a 2 run HR. Ludwick 3-4 so far on the day.

In the rain
1.Skip Schumaker, LF 2.Adam Kennedy, 2B 3.Rick Ankiel, CF 4.Amaury Marti, DH 5.Chris Duncan, 1B 6.Brendan Ryan, SS 7.Colby Rasmus, RF 8.Jason LaRue, C 9.Brian Barden, 3B Starting pitcher: RHP Adam Wainwright. Followed by: LHP Jaime Garcia. The plan is to squeeze six innings out of those two arms, and then maybe throw some of the younger pitchers in, like RHP Mark McCormick, RHP David Kopp or RHP Blake King. Pitching coach Dave Duncan said he is reluctant to ask too much of the youngsters for the reason mentioned earlier in the newsletter — they haven’t faced hitters yet. |

Cards come back and win the nightcap over the Marlins, 6-5.
Schumaker with the big hit, a triple. Outstanding 3 innings of pitching by Jaime Garcia. Along with McClellan, his stock continues to rise. What would you think of having McClellan, Garcia & Mortenson open the season at Springfield? They would love it down in SW Missouri.
