Ignoring the fact that its probably not going to happen.....
Imagine the lineup with Bonds in it. Pujols would have an amazing year with Bonds hitting behind him. Having said that. I hate Bonds just as much as anyone else. Last edited by Kodiak; 12-06-2006 at 01:12 PM. |

Bonds and Pujols would make an interesting pair in the lineup.
I find it interesting the adverse reaction to having Bonds on our team as to having McGwire back in the day. Now I don't want to start a steroid discussion here, as neither player has officially been implicated for using them. Does it boil down to attitude? Granted McGwire was a puppy dog next to Bonds. If Bonds gets us back to the World Series, would it be worth all the hassle? |

Yes. But right now our concern should be starting pitching first, then outfield. Bonds would actually be perfect because we know he wouldn't play every game meaning that on days he rests we could start Duncan to get him more experience in the outfield. |

Intrigued? So am I. To see if he'll sign for one year for the league minimum. Otherwise, I'm not interested in the slightest.

You guys have to respect Bonds at the same rate that I have to respect Pujols (at least, as the players that they are). You can't say that steroids made him the player he's been 2002 - 2004, because his '93 season was just as good less the amount of strikeouts. As a matter of fact, you can't even say that he took all of the steroids that he's been said to have taken as a verifiable fact... but that's up for a different discussion.
Bonds would make any team better, just by looking at the stats of a team's record when he's in the lineup vs. when he's not. So, he would be a great addition to the Cardinals, as well as any other team. Unfortunately, like most fans would probably hope, it's best for him to stay in San Francisco. |

I agree that he would be best off just staying in San Fran. |

Clearly we aren't going to sign Barry for that much. But if the only teams interested in him are us and the Giants, and the Giants are only willing to guarantee half of what he made this season (plus incentives) then we would have a shot. Right now i'm more concerned about our pitching, but I have to admit that I would like seeing that name in the lineup behind Pujols. The offense would be beautiful. I'm not holding my breath though.... |

It might be nice to watch the offensive fireworks, but if you thought Duncan was a disaster waiting to happen in the OF, put Bonds out in LF.
Did you happen to see how terrible Bonds "D" was last year? If the ball wasn't hit directly to him, forget about it. |
