Default Some Sad News to Report - Death in our Cardinal FanHome Family

On Friday the Cardinal pitchers and catchers took the field officially for the first time in 2008. The sound of the ball being thrown back and forth, the crack of the bats, all signaled the start of spring time in Cardinal Nation.

The birth of a new year.

Sadly, many miles away in Arkansas, God decided to call home one of his players. Grace, the lovely and charming wife of ArRedbird, went peacefully in her sleep after a long bout with lymphoma on Friday. She’ll be missed greatly by her family and friends.

I’d like to publicly pass on to Rod and his two children our deepest sympathy and prayers on the loss of Grace.

Funeral services for Grace will be on Monday.

I’ve gotten to know Rod over the years, first on our message board at Fastball.com/Dickie Thon/FanHome etc. and later in person, as we took in baseball games at Busch Stadium and down at Ray Winder stadium in Little Rock together. I feel that I’ve been blessed to have him as a friend.

So anything that you need my friend, don’t be afraid to pick up the phone, shoot me an email. Whatever you need, its yours.

Just remember PB stands for Palm Beach, not Poplar Bluff.

Rod:

My heart is saddened by this and my thoughts and prayers are with your kids and Grace's Family.

Although we have never met in person we all do know each other from being together at the Forums for these many years. If I can do anything for you please let me know.

Thanks for all of your good wishes.

My wife loved the Cardinals and knew how much I love
this forum. She could recite names of
present and former players and
liked watching the Cardinal games with me.
We both went crazy when Ozzie hit his famous homer.
We screamed at the tv over the blown call by the ump in the WS vs KC.
We stood and applauded with Jack when Mac hit no. 62.
We leapt for joy over Yadier's homer vs the Mets (you know which one!)
And hugged each other when Adam finished off the Tigers.

and she shared in the bad times too -- but I won't list those.

Later, fellow Cardinal fans.
