Per Bernie....there will be a 1:00 news conference today. We don't know the length of the agreement as yet....could be 1, 2 or three years. Said he may want to seehow he works with the new GM. Hopefully, a 3 year deal....

I'm glad, too. STLtoday - Sports - Cardinals
With this, Izzy, Piniero, and Springer, things are a little more settled. I hope a GM is picked soon. It appears we will have a young one. I like Jocketty, but maybe his day had really passed. I just voted in the poll that I was glad Tony was returning. 77% of the people had voted yes. I really hope that Tony will think young. I wonder if Lou Brock would do more work with them running? Coop - Per Mark Lamping on Ch 4 last night, the GM position probably will not be resolved till after the World Series. DeWitt is down to a short list of possible candidates - Mozeliak is one of them.

Meh. The day LaRussa thinks young is the day he has a kid playing ball.
Weak FA market coupled with same-old, same-old equals....what, exactly? 83 more wins?

You probably read these, already.
With the front office STLtoday - Sports - Cardinals What do you think about Hal McRae kept as batting coach? With Rolen STLtoday - Sports - Cardinals I think we have a good team, even without Carpenter. I hope Mulder can pitch like his Athletics years. Questionable. We sure need another pitcher signed. I'm sure Duncan will never understand that Reyes is a changeup pitcher. Dyar Miller understands that. Free Anthony Reyes. I'm OK starting out not spending a lot of money on other positions. |
