" 'Field of Dreams' is top baseball film: Fans voted in poll inspired by new
movie, 'The Final Season' "

By Doug Miller / MLB.com

----------------------------------------
Top 10 list

10. "The Rookie" (2002)

9. "Pride of the Yankees (1942)

8. "For Love of the Game" (1999)

7. "Fever Pitch" (2005)

6. "A League of Their Own" (1992)

5. "The Sandlot" (1993)

4. "Major League" (1989)

3. "Bull Durham" (1988)

2. "The Natural" (1984)

1. "Field of Dreams" (1989)
----------------------------------------------

It is noted that Field of Dreams was easy winner.

Other baseball movies were listed by posters.
I didn't see a few of these movies.

It Happens Every Spring with Ray Milland is a favorite of mine.
Fear Strikes Out about Jimmy Piersall.
8 Men Out.
Angels In The Outfield.
Long Gone.
The Scout.
Talent For The Game.
61.
The Babe Ruth Story with Wm. Bendix.
Bang The Drum Slowly.
Damn Yankees.

The Final Season is the new movie.

I hope others will have warm memories with the season over for the winter.

8 Men Out (easily in my top 3), 61, and The Babe Ruth Story should have easily made the list. People have short memories.
Personally, I wouldn't consider either Fever Pitch or Major League as "Baseball Movies."

Default Movies

I'm still waiting for my residual check from Fever Pitch...

Bull Durham has always been my favorite simply because it has every element of baseball it it. The young, wild pitcher, the grizzled veteran, the pious one, the hispanic player worried about a curse, etc. It doesn't get any better than that. But, don't believe what Bleacher might tell you. In spite of the fact that we travel around to view the minor leaguers, I am NOT a "baseball annie"!!!

Bull Durham and Field of Dreams rank 1...2 in my book.

A movie that wasn't mentioned - The Monty Stratton story - has always been a favorite of mine.

And I'm still waiting for EWT to get me a copy of "Kill the Umpire" with William Bendix

and stlkat - "what happens in Knoxville, stays in Knoxville".....

I have enjoyed all baseball movies that I saw and remember. Usually, they are sappy and I tear up, but it's baseball. I watch before ST. Is it spring, yet?
Field Of Dreams is my favorite. I bought a VCR in cheap closeout to watch.
I always hope I catch "It Happens Every Spring" on TV. I should just try to find and buy that fun movie.
I am sorry that I have not seen all the movies mentioned.
I am very happy for these posts in response.

I realize that "Pride of the Yankees" is sappy, as you'd expect from its release date, but it's still a good movie about a good man. I think it has to be top five.

My list -- 1. Bull Durham; 2. Eight Men Out; 3. The Natural; 4. Pride of the Yankees; 5. The Rookie; 6. Field of Dreams; 7. Bang the Drum Slowly; 8. A League of Their Own; 9. *61; 10. The Sandlot.
