I have seen this mentioned. If as expected, Tony leaves.
Would this be considered by Red and management and the new manager? Red Shoendienst is always there, anyway. Have Red manager for some 2008 wins with the new manager doing his bench manager duties? Get Red his rightful position. Break the new guy in right. I really don't think it will be done. I just think Red is great. Fan! I love the Cardinals anyway. I'm sure everybody has read Bernie's Blog about manager candidates.
STLtoday.com Blogs - Sports - Bernie's Extra Points - If La Russa Leaves: Name the Manager! I hope whoever they have does good. |

Per this morning's (Saturday) Post-Dispatch, Bruce Manno's contract has not been renewed for next year and he has been effectively terminated along with Walt this week.
I for one will be sorry to see him go. I always enjoyed talking baseball with him at the winter warmups, etc. He would always give you an answer to any question that you had about the minor leaguers. He'll be missed. And the domino's start to fall..........

The first two links are a "must read". They offer some insight into what has been going on in the Cardinal organization over the last 3-4 years and how we got to the action taken this past week.
In other stories that I read today on the net, WJ and TLR could be in demand in quite a few cities. In addition to the Cincy story earlier in the week, stories are coming out that Toronto, Baltimore and even the Yankees could be interested in making a move to the former Cardinal braintrust of WJ/TLR. - Chasm in Cards' front office was years in making By Joe Strauss / ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH - Being Cards' 'lightning rod' makes Luhnow uneasy By Derrick Goold / ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH - Opportunities already pouring in for Jocketty by AP / Belleville News-Democrat
