Atlanta Hawks Unveil New Uniforms

According to Atlanta Spirit President and CEO Bernie Mullin there are several reasons for the uniform and color-scheme change and the alterations were the result of months of collaboration between Atlanta Spirit, the Hawks players, the NBA and Adidas:

"The inspiration for the colors came from the original St. Louis Hawks uniforms which were red, white and blue. Those colors were also used for the first two seasons in Atlanta, and the 2007-08 season marks the 40th anniversary of the Hawks in Atlanta. It's also the 50th anniversary of the Hawks NBA Championship and those two anniversaries are part of the reason we opted to make the change now.

"It's a more modern, sleek, and aggressive look that goes with the product that we’re putting on the court this season. We know our players love it and we’re sure the fans will too," said Mullin.

Wow, I had to clue that the Hawks were getting new uniforms. I wish they would return to the uniforms they had in the 80's, those were nice.

The new ones sort of look too modern, and I am going to have to say this one does too. The secondary logo loogs like the Bobcats for crying out loud.

I like these uniforms much better than those red and white ones. It was about time for a change.
