heykid, can you link that story you quote?
Here's the Sonic's website on the story HOK is the premier sports stadium/arena designer in the world. Good to see that the Sonics aren't going cheap and local like the Mariners did. That should mean that silly things like placing the foulpoles in fair territory doesn't cause a million dollar overrun.

It's a good sign, but it doesn't mean they're staying, I do think it greatens the chances of staying though. It always seems that when a city sees the stadium they're getting they become more interested. I can't wait too see what they come up with if they go with such extravigent ideas that Bennett has.

I hope the Sonics stay in Seattle. It's a fantastic world class city, and as such, should retain an NBA franchise. I think attendance would climb with a better team and a new arena.
It's a shame that someone like Bill Gates doesn't just build the facility himself. He claims to love Seattle, and for him, a couple hundred million is what a $5 bill is to us. He could name the new place Gates Arena and include all kinds of pleasant Seattle and Microsoft-themed touches. If I had Gates' kind of money, I'd already own a sports team or two. |

He's just not a sports fan... Schultz is a billionaire and dropping the 400M$ by himself wasn't going to happen either.

The Seattle Times: Sonics: Sonics say they need at least $300 million for a new arena
Its down to Renton or Bellevue, and the state/county/cities giving the team 300M$ for a 400M$+ stadium.
