Browns trade Frye to the Seahawks

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Browns traded quarterback Charlie Frye to the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday for an undisclosed draft pick.
In a press conference hosted by Cleveland general manager Phil Savage, he announced that Derek Anderson, who came on in relief of Frye during a 34-7 loss to Pittsburgh in the season opener on Sunday, will start under center for the team's home game against Cincinnati, while first-round draft pick Brady Quinn will be the backup.
"This will change Brady's preparation during the week," said Savage. "It will give him more reps and continue to improve his development for the day he takes over."
Frye became the first Browns QB to start consecutive opening days since Kelly Holcomb in 2002-03, but he was pulled after a 4-of-10 start for 34 yards with one interception during the loss to Pittsburgh.
Anderson came on to complete 13-of-28 passes for 184 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Anderson (793 passing yards, 5 TD, 8 INT) appeared in five games last season, including one in which he rallied Cleveland for an overtime win over the Chiefs.

The 26-year-old Frye, a third-round choice of the Browns in the 2005 draft, has started in 19 of the 21 career games he's played in.
"This trade was ultimately good for everyone involved," said Savage. "It gives us some clarity at the position and gives Charlie a fresh chance in another place."
Last season Frye started 13 games, going 4-9 as a starter, and was 252-of-393 passing for 2,454 yards with 10 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. His 64.1 completion percentage ranked second-highest in franchise history, behind Otto Graham (1953).
The Browns also re-signed veteran quarterback Ken Dorsey on Tuesday.
Matt Hasselbeck starts at QB for Seattle, while Seneca Wallace is currently the back-up.
Frye's new team will be in Cleveland November 4.
Dorsey spent the 2006 season with the Browns, and has appeared in 12 games in his NFL career, starting 10 times, with San Francisco and Cleveland.
Also, the Seahawks dealt defensive end Bryce Fisher to Tennessee for an undisclosed draft pick on Tuesday.
