Just a reminder to anyone stopping by, remember that I-5 is only half its usual paltry width through downtown, so expect even worse traffic than usual.
Game One is Felix v Johann. I kind of wonder if Hugo Chavez calls the winner after a matchup like this. Potential v the proven vet. Dick Fain says that of the contenders for the AL playoffs the Mariners are one of two teams with 3 pitchers with a sub 4 ERA since June One. Felix is one of those three, in fact since in July Felix had a 3.05 ERA and a .705 oOPS. I could go for seeing another month or two of that. Santana is God. Like Carlos is to Guitar, Johann is on the mound. Game Two: Garza v HoRam Please note that I can't think of a less deserving 7-3 record. If there was ever any doubt that W/L record for pitchers is meaningless, take a look at Horacio Rameriz. He's at home though, and so the Mariners stand a chance. Game Three: Baker v Washburn This is an early game and so the one most likely to be effected by traffic afterwords. Rather than park on an interstate, take a walk and enjoy how much SoDo is growing.

I'm sorry I left for a while. I needed a vaction, and then work changed substantially. I'm over 50 hour weeks, plus two hours a day of commuting time. A few weeks ago I launched my own blog about Seattle Sounders FC and Life in Puget Sound. I won't be by these parts often as my focus has changed. Sorry about the unannounced retirement. |

Oh, and the Player of the Week is likely to start tonight as he actually has a record of performance against Santana.

Oooh, better OF defense worse IF defense. Tell me again what type of pitcher Felix is?
Ichiro - CF Vidro - 2B Guillen - RF Ibanez - DH Sexson - 1B Johjima - C Jones - LF Betancourt - SS Bloomquist - 3B This offense means that Felix will have to be on, with 18 Homers sitting on the bench

Though I've hinted to some that I would sit Lopez at times, playing Vidro. I would likely do it when there is a tough righty on the mound in opposition and not Felix/Batista for the Mariners. That softens the defense downgrade (FB pitcher) and it gets another lefty an opportunity.

Gameday has clocked Felix at over 100 mph 7 times already. Somehow their Willie Bloomquist (they call him Bartlett) has managed to foul off a ton of pitches.

When the book is written about this season it will be titled "Winning Despite the Math"
