How does Crazy Carl's average look with one more hit a week? How does everybody's average look with one more hit a week?
Could Broussard turn it around and become a productive hitter? Sure. Is it likely? Not in my opinion. |

One more hit per week for 7 weeks is much easier to accept as possible than 16 or 20 weeks, and when it's Ben versus Carl, same goes. And Everett slugged 67 points lower than Ben during their tenure in Seattle.
I think all of you who think Broussard IS terrible are delusional. Is he great? Not close. Is he the BEST OPTION? Of course not. But why is it soooo unlikely that he's useful to the Mariners versus all of those TERRIBLE options mentioned above? Coco Friggin Crisp? Gimme a friggin' break. Luis Gonzalez is aparrently someone they are seriously interested in. Seriously.
Hes 39. We're not going to 'win now' in 2007. They are just trying to get whoever they can that contributes to the next season just to save their jobs. Its not exactly a secret, but its pretty obvious if they're going for over the hill players again. If Gonzales has 5 teams interested in him like his agent says, I could only imagine how much we'd be paying for his 52 doubles last year. I understand the market is frustrating, but the article says he would play in the OF as well as DH. They're going to want him in the lineup, even if Willie Bloomquist plays, so Id imagine the way Hargrove thinks, Snelling will be the one benched. Wont jump to conclusions yet, but im pretty sure a 39 year old in the OF is not exactly a good thing. Last edited by Slica; December 1st, 2006 at 08:37 AM. |

Trust me when I say that Indians fans were thrilled when we took Broussard off their hands.
He is useless defensively and we all know his limitations with the bat. He is not needed on this team. Last edited by RotatorCuff; December 2nd, 2006 at 01:13 PM. |

well whether he's wrong or right - that list of players above is nothing to get excited about - not one of them. So what we are really arguing over is which is the less-stinkiest pile of crap you want wafting through the Safe next season. I say go for the least expensive one.

So, because you watched him in Cleveland you know more about how he might perform in Seattle in 2007?
Whatever, dude. THAT is delusional. But keep telling yourself the same crap, you already believe it, so no use in stopping now. And don't act like I'm saying Ben is the answer, or that he's GOOD. He's just a better option at 4-4.5 mil than any of those other craptastic players mentioned above are at their likely cost, which is either alot more guaranteed cash, or a little more cash and some trade bait. Either way, this discussion can't go any further, because whatever RC says must be right because he's watched more Tribe games than me. What a great way to banter. |

Broussard was good with Cleveland, not just last year.
His BABIP is a bit wacky, and he can't walk, but his ISO has been at .190+ for three straight years while his HR have gone from 17 to 19 to 21. He isn't awful, he's just a six hitter tops. But the team could really use a solid six hitter. RC why don't you tell us why the numbers on Broussard are lying? And let's keep the discussion to the players, not the posters, that's for everyone.

Huff is a serious hitter just waiting for the right situation. I expect he'd do very well in Seattle, banging 40+ doubles into the alleys at Safeco with a bat like Sexson in the lineup with him. Remember that he played for TAMPA BAY all these years. That's rough.

The guy basically ripped me for having a different opinion of a player. Is that not allowed? Last edited by bedir than average; December 2nd, 2006 at 09:45 AM. |

So why is the evidence of Broussard's ability to hit wrong?

Hey bedir. Just wanted to tell you how much I've enjoyed posting over in the coffee thread.
I urge the other posters to check out some of the topics in the BBQ section. Some pretty neat stuff. That sounds like one cool job you have bedir. A customer of mine gave me a Starbucks card yesterday and I think I'm going to go and buy some Arabian Mocha Sanini. |

I would suggest that everyone take a look around the forums even. Chris/2quarters is building one of the football boards (Cowboys) back up, which is impressive considering they were the first thing that scout/theinsiders swallowed.
THe Sonics board is growing faster than most of the basketball boards. I post regularly on the soccer board as well. This thing is going to grow back to its 40,000+ greatness, glad you guys are here on the ground floor.
