Nice trade - apparently - for Texas. Presumably they get 4 players from Atlanta, including their top two prospects in exchange for Teixeira.

The only pitcher named Reyes I want is Anthony Reyes. I agree with Dave Cameron that the M's need relief pitchers about as much as they need a CF.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that the Mariners offered Wladimir Balentien to Kansas City before the Royals picked the Braves' offer of Kyle Davies for Octavio Dotel.
Interesting. Though he's still hardly a sure thing, Balentien offers 35- or 40-homer potential and has come a long way this year. While we like the current deal for the Royals, we would have gone with Balentien over Davies.

Olney just mentioned on Softy's show that the Mariners might move Mark Lowe in the Al Reyes deal.

That would be just plain stupid.

Bill Bavasi make a stupid trade? One that has baseball people everywhere scratching their heads?

Surely you jest!

Bavasi didn't do anything stupid, and he sent Mateo to join his fellow wife beater in Philly.

I approve of this trade deadline.

Now call up Adam Jones!
