This move adds offense and defense to a team that is on fire of late. Improving things that are already doing well.
I love this season.

This is great news. Is there any outfield with better arms than Jones, Ichiro and Guillen. I don't understand putting Jones in right rather than left, but perhaps it's due to his having played more in RF and not wanting to add the pressure of again learning a new OF position.
If Vidro is the odd man out, likely means Beltre to hit second and slide Jones into the 7 hole. |

This has to be the single greatest all-star break in M's history. M's just swept the A's in Oakland, they are on fire, 2.5 out in the West and 1.5 in the WC, Ichiro just re-signed, and AJ is going to start, Vidro is going to the bench, Raul is going to DH, Hargrove is gone.
Wow. Hard to believe the fact that the M's would be the #1 seed in the NL, that's right, the best team in the NL if they were transferred there today, and that doesn't take into account that the Mariner's record would be even better had they been playing in the NL all along. |

Well your first mistake was believing that Jones would be called up because JAC told you that.
Sorry but the day JAC is working alongside Bavasi will be the day I start believing what he writes. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading JAC but he doesn't know what Bill Bavasi is going to do tomorrow or the day after that for that matter. Dan Evans probably knows. Organizations hate leaks. Making leakers look stupid by having their information turn out to be wrong is a strong strategy to prevent future leaks. The other possibility is that this was an intentional leak to light a fire under Jose Vidro's underachieving butt.
Regardless of all the "strategery" Jones is ready and it is time to call him up in days, not weeks. |
