Ichiro extension

The M's and Ichiro are apparently on the verge of a 5 year 100 million extension. This is fantastic news if it pans out.

I first heard about this on a comment posted on USS Mariner. Maybe a rumor started by an ex-bat boy can be believed. BTW, I agree with Churchill that Ichiro is the MVP. He is the fuel that drives the Mariners engine.

Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the deal is worth between $75 and 90 million. In any event, a five year deal to lock up the best leadoff hitter in the game and the face of the franchise is about to happen. Kudos to Bavasi for getting the job done.

The fluxuation is likely the difference between guarunteed, likely and difficult levels for bonuses.

Larry Stone right now on KJR saying that its for real.

One of the three OF spots is set for the forseeable future. Unless they make a mistake, Adam Jones has another one. Heck with Wlad hitting the way he is, the OF for '08-10 might be set.

It's a year longer than I would of liked, but then again, that was before Ichiro took his game to yet another level this season.

KJR is quoting a site saying that cash is being deferred. Contract is loosely based on the Vernon Wells deal.

I'm trying to find a transcript of Lincoln's statement that he believes this deal will ensure that the Mariners win a World Series with Ichiro and that he will be a Hall of Famer.

While Locke is right that you are paying a guy in his past peak years, and philosophically I tend to agree. Ichiro though is someone quite special. I told you this in 2000, and I still feel it.

He's a game changer, remember our research about the team's record when Ichiro gets on-base? He is the fuel to the current offense.

The FA market is going to explode again, ARod will get thirty million per year and the Ichiro deal will seem a bargain.

This Dave (clark) is going to agree with Dave Locke in part, but really thinks that in this specific instance Dave Cameron is right.

His theory is correct, but doesn't apply in this case. I'd love to see what you have to say rather than just rip a guy djwhokid.
