Default Freddy II

P-I's Hickey has an article on this.

Quote:
...in the current environment, it seems Garcia, who has one year left on his contract at about $9 million, is beginning to look good to the Mariners as the pool of free agent pitchers dries up. For one thing, Mariners starter Felix Hernandez idolizes Garcia, a good friend. For another, Garcia was a steady winner during his time in Seattle.

The Angels are in the hunt for Garcia, 30, who was a 17-game winner in 2006.
That's the way things are going, huh? Trades over insane signings. Be sort of wild if it happened. Who would the Sox want in return? Reed II?

I'd take Freddie back. If nothing else, he eats innings. That saves the bullpen over the long haul. I want no more Gil Meche '5 inning starts'.

I'd certainly trade them back Morse and Reed. Perhaps make it a three way and find a way for them to get Olivio back as well.

I guess since he's only got 1 year left on his deal, that Freddy wouldn't be too bad, but I wouldn't be giving up a whole lot for him. Certainly not the kind of talent that the Sox gave us.

I'm not going to blame Bavasi for that deal.

In fact it looked like a tremendous veteran for prospect deal.

It just didn't work out.

I agree.

I just dont want to see Reed and Morse become free agents only to see them the following season starting for a WS contending White Sox team. (Detroit?).

I say go for it at this point. Im at the point where they just need to upgrade the pitching, even if they have to overpay. If they dont want to do that, then just avoid getting screwed in a trade.

Yes, very basic trade tip:

DONT GET SCREWED!

please?
