Well, I'll bet they'll all go home happy tonight, because this 10-1 drubbing is exactly what they wanted. Good job Mariner fans. You just showed the rest of the baseball world that we're the biggest joke of a fanbase in the country.

What the hell are you talking about Chippy?
He left because he wanted to play closer to home, and he wanted to play on the same team that he dad did. And IIRC, his dad was either managing or was a coach, so he wanted to play for him as well.

Nonsense.
We all knew the Mariners were only going to sign one superstar long-term. After A-Fraud's breakout 1998 season they decided that he was the chosen one so they traded Griffey. Quote:
The Mariners front office just were to chickent to call junior's bluff. What would have Griffey done? Hold out... I mean, how many times has Manny Ramirez demanded a trade?

Ugh if Griffey wanted the money and long term deal, he had a chance. He took LESS money to sign with Cincy than Seattle offered him.
Btw am I the only Joey Cora fan? He might not of been much, but I really liked growing up. Back to Griffey. The fans sound disappointing...I figured if we were gonna get drubbed might as well root for a Griffey HR. Im not watching the game so I cant comment on that. I coulda sworn RRS already played for us in the majors this year? Debut? I must be out of it. Nonetheless the M's come first, and real fans know that. |

LMFAO. the mainers offered griffey and arod both 8 year deals at the end of the 98 season. 16.8 per year for arod and 17.8 million per year for griffey on the same day and they both said no with griffey demanding a trade to atlanta |

no, i always liked cora. not the best talent but a very good spark plug. RRS was up earlier, but he never appeared in a game before being sent down |

I was at the game. The pregame was absolutely awesome. The game stunk. It was 9-0 in the third inning. It is pretty lame to blame the fans for writing it off and wanting to see Griffey do something memorable.
Griffey was the premier player in major league baseball when he was here. He was the focus of the team when it stopped being an expansion team. People hate A-Rod because he was deceptive - telling people, especially Howard "the sucker" Lincoln what he wanted to hear. The best description of Alex Rodriguez is that he is like Eddie Haskell talking to Mrs. Cleaver. A great ballplayer and a big jerk. Randy Johnson got a great reception on his first trip back and he wasn't gone that long. People have seen what Griffey is about. He's a good guy but he has his quirks. I'm just thrilled to have been able to see him play when he was the best. |

Johnson returned to Seattle July 20th 1999 -- almost a year after he was traded (July 31, 1998). A-Rod returned April 16th 2001 -- three months after he signed with the Rangers as a free agent (January 26th 2001). Griffey hadn't played in Seattle for eight years. Quote:
