I'm going to copy all threads on Felix' starts into this thread as a Tribute to the season. This thread will just be a copy of the originals, not for original content.

Mike Hargrove in an interview with Shannon Drayer in today's postgame announced that Felix would be the Opening Day Starter. The King has his first trial prior to his season ending corronation against the Oakland Athletics and their Black Knight Haren.

Hargrove mentioned that what impresseed Felix was not merely him having the best stuff in the organization but his maturity, his fitness and his desire to carry the team.

It's going to be awesome on opening day. Felix and Haren. Plus it will more than likely be the only day of the season where the M's have a share of first place.

There was absolutely no reason for the King to not start opening day.

The fact that Hargrove was even contemplating starting Washburn proves what a moron he is.

Hargrove said in the radio interview that the only question he had concerning Felix before ST started was whether he was mentally ready and that it was quickly apparent that Felix was going to be the OD starter. He made the decision weeks ago, the announcement was all that waited. Don't let your hate of the man blind you to his actions and words.

Yeah, as much as I hate the guy, he never once said that Washburn was in the running. Not once. It was never even implied.

That was just something that the people came up with on their own.

If Felix had shown up overweight without a care in the world, should he have been the Opening Day starter?

Once that was proven not to be the case Hargrove's mind was made up. About 6 weeks ago. He said so already.

on my board people were pissed that batista is ahead of ramirez, but this may explain the reasoning

batista against oakland the last 3 years. 29 ip 2.79 era and .218 avg against with a CG

Of course we could go with Felix, Rameriz, Batista and do even better, but that's a quibble

Weaver as the fifth is a fine idea. As the sixth even better.

The thread on Felix

This game is so important for the Mariners. It might be the most important series for Seattle in four years. With a series win over Oakland it can get rid of a lot of demons in the minds of players and fans here in the Puget Sound.

Felix, Washburn and Batista slated to throw for the Seattle Club.
