Default 4-13-07: Gamethread - Texas (4-5) @ Seattle (3-2)

The Official Site of The Texas Rangers: News: Texas Rangers News

Quote:
Pitching matchup
TEX: RHP Kevin Millwood (1-1, 4.91 ERA)
Millwood is coming off an 8-4 victory over Boston in which he allowed three runs on eight hits in six innings. He went 3-2 with a 3.79 ERA against the Mariners in six starts last season. For his career, Millwood is 5-3 with a 3.65 ERA in nine starts against Seattle. The 32-year-old right-hander has made four starts at Safeco Field, posting a 1-2 record and 3.96 ERA.
We should be seeing Eric Gagne tonight as well.

Quote:
"If [Kevin] Millwood has a perfect game going, then I don't think I'll use him," Washington said, laughing.

But anything short of that, and Gagne can expect to make his Rangers debut Friday at Safeco Field. The former Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star opened the season on the disabled list to get a little more time to finish his comeback from elbow and back surgeries that limited him to just 15 1/3 innings the past two seasons. But he's finally ready to go, and Washington can't wait.

The Mariners are throwing Jarrod Washburn

Quote:
SEA: LHP Jarrod Washburn (0-0, 3.00 ERA)
And on the 10th day, Washburn gets to pitch again. The veteran lefty last started a game on April 3 against the Athletics and held the defending division champs to two runs over six innings. But the bullpen faltered, and he settled for a no-decision.
The rotation is rather messed up right now, with all of the offdays.

Quote:
"The way it stands, I'm going to prepare for my third team for one start," he said. "That's probably never been done."
Lineups aren't out yet.

A Reminder to everyone, this is an AL West Divisional Matchup and so the home team will be hosting the Gamethread. Hopefully we can get some Rangers fans on board. I'd love to hear their opinions of Sosa and Gagne's reclamation projects.

Lineups are out

Texas
Hairston CF
Kinsler 2B
Young SS
Texiera 1B
Sosa DH
Blalock 3B
Cruz RF
Laird C
Kata LF

Seattle
Ichiro CF
Beltre 3B
Vidro DH
Ibanez LF
Sexson 1B
Guillen RF
Johjima C
YuBet SS
Lopez 2B

The nice thing about not playing much is you get to use your standard lineup, the bad thing is that I still don't really like this offense.

Seattle's hitting has stunk, but much of that has been luck as the combined BABIP is less than .230 (average is about 300)

Lou is in midseason form.

After the Cubs lost a game:

Quote:
Reporter:What do you think went wrong?
Lou:WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK WENT WRONG! YOU SEE THE GODDAMN GAMES!
Reporter:uh..uh...I....uh
Lou:I'M STARTING TO SEE WHY THIS TEAM LOST SO MANY GAMES!

Lol! Lou...what a sweet man.

I miss him. Willie wouldnt dare ask for playing time, and half our roster's lineup would be traded by now over their inept attempts at hitting.

Im not interested in this game with you know, it being a nonFelix start. But ill watch until the Rangers put a bunch of runs on the board.

Friday the 13th...was watching the Zab Judah fight, they built this custom thing outside to fight under, and a wicked storm hit so they went inside...Judah hit homedude with an unintentional elbow within 30 seconds, and the fight was over. They finally get confirmation on what happened, and the mic wouldnt work so they can tell everyone. Its been a weird day.

Washburn gives up a two-run bomb..... we're gonna need to score some serious runs to pull this one out.

well, Kinsler looks to be having a fine April, just got his 5th HR of the season to put the Rangers up 4-0. Washburn hasn't been awful and got bit by a rare misplay by Beltre.

Apparently Sims made a comment that was pretty filthy in a sense, though he might of meant it in some other context. I dunno, but wow.

Wow, Ichiro needs to be benched or something. He looks like CRAP. And not his usual April suckness either. He's striking out like Richie Sexson.

Somebody should remind him he's in a contract year.
