all that was is speculation by LA and sportswriters in that he's one of a few options for bats that they could pursue. Seeing as how our FO is reluctant to spend money and some of the bats are already gone - not sure how good of an idea it would be to trade away the bats we got.
And yes its true our bad record is hurting us - would seem a smart move for the FO to increase payroll another 10-15 mill for a few years to rebound from this but hey, the are still making money so why do that? |

The Los Angeles Dodgers are an interesting team to watch this offseason. After signing Pierre to play center and Nomar to play first, they have no 25-man role for James Loney...
Most think they are after Cliff Floyd to play left field, too, and are interested in Jacque Jones if the Cubs ink Floyd and make Jones available... which means that either Matt Kemp or Andre Ethier, both good young bats worthy of starting roles, would join Loney on a list of potentially available kids. The Dodgers' only other option with Loney, other than optioning him back to AAA, which is a total friggin' waste, is to start Nomar at third, where he doesn't like to play and has been told he wouldn't have to. If LAD lands Mike Lowell or Adrian Beltre, maybe Ethier, Kemp or at least Wilson Betemit will be included. |

Does everybody realize that we had a terrible offensive team last year with Adrian Beltre? Why on earth would we want to weaken our offense even further by getting rid of him? Is there some part of this equation I'm missing?
Beltre hasn't put up all-star numbers but they aren't bad enough that a replacement would be easy to find. |
